We generally agree that we should always see how the mahadasha lord is positioned in transit because its transit results are stronger.

How do we see the results of a weak mahadasha lord in its natal position vis-a-vis the strong transit of the same planet? And vice versa - if it's strong in the natal chart but weakly placed in transit?

Do we expect mixed results in both cases or does the natal position override the transit position? Or can the transit position modify the natal position and how? An example would be great. Of course, a greater impact can be expected with slow moving planets like Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and Jupiter.
